BREAKING NEWS PLAYSTATION 4 ANNOUNCED

So to confirm any speculation here and now Sony's new console will indeed be called the PlayStation 4, what will it look like I hear you cry? Well nobody knows as we had to sit through a 2 hour press conference with not even a sniff of the console in question, I will go through what Sony have announced for the PlayStation 4 though as it does get interesting even with a severe lack of visible console.

Andrew House stepped out on to the stage and confirmed that it would be a major step forward for PlayStation as a company as they were proud to announce new hardware, software and a new and improved PSN (that's PlayStation Network for you XBOX fans).

He also revealed that they would be releasing an update for the PSVita, Sony's most recent handheld console. The Vita will be used in conjunction with the PS4, for example you are playing a game in your living room and your mother walks in and wants to watch Downton Abbey or X Factor USA you can send your game from the PS4 to your PSVita and carry on playing where you left off, this is as far as this segment went though as I don't really think they had much more to tell us.

Then it was Mark Cerny's turn to take to the stage who is the lead system architect for SONY, he revealed that the PS4 would have a platform for potential game developers to make use of, this platform will use a X86 CPU, a high powered PC GPU and boast 8GB of system memory which will be separate from the local storage hard drive. The local storage will backup your games in case of emergency though.

MR. Cerny also announced the new DUALSHOCK 4 controller which will be used with the new console, it was surprisingly sleek and slim lined and not much like the leaked pictures that were going around the net last week. It has enhanced triggers and bumpers for a more ergonomic feel, a light bar which coupled with a stereo camera attachment senses the 3D position of the controller however this again was seriously lacking in detail, one of the key features however was the 'Share' button which allows players to instantly record what they are playing and then share it instantly to Facebook or Twitter something which makes me feel slightly awkward when I put hard work and effort in creating HD videos for YouTube now 10 year old kids will be thinking they are game moguls... Risky move by PlayStation but its all part of the social aspect I suppose.

One plus side that I did find with this console is that the potential graphics look absolutely fantastic. Now I know we say that every time a new game comes out but I am serious these graphics look almost human like in appearance, facial details are clear and crisp and emotions are put across much more accurately through eye detail and facial emotion. Surroundings, buildings and everything else in between look as true to real life as real life itself, I found myself shaking my head in disbelief quite a few times as I just couldn't believe the quality in the graphics.

Going along with the social aspect, friends can watch you play games live and pick up where you left off if they have the same game. PlayStation are looking to develop a cloud system so that you can have everything everywhere. Basically they are just playing catch up with XBOX's SmartGlass system but we will let them think they are on to something :)

Couple of games to tell you about then, Killzone: Shadowfall which boasted most impressive gameplay of them all in the demonstration looked very impressive in it's approach but in previous experiences the games can be slightly lacking so we will see with that one.

Next game is called DriveClub which is a team based racing game.... Bring back memories of a particular Need for Speed game anybody??? The game comes coupled with an app for your tablet computer or mobile phone where you can share your lap times and personal records with players all around the world and set challenges to be beaten.

The last two games called Deep Down ( a working title ) and Watchdogs look the most promising and most graphically pleasing as they are both using new game engines specifically designed for the PlayStation 4. The developers for Deep Down are Capcom who also announced a new Final Fantasy game for this year and Ubisoft are developing Watchdogs. Both games look worth a buy if they live up to their expectations.

So when is this wonderful high graphics invisible console due for release? It's coming ready for the festive period this year but with a severe lack of actual console and only a controller and a few games to show us it seems that SONY have been a bit too eager to show us what they have to offer. No price has been confirmed yet either. All I can say is that it might be worth a buy but my money is on XBOX to come up with something truly spectacular at their press conference. Slow and steady wins the race.

How very imaginative calling it the ps4 surprising considering the superstition number 4 is thought to be extremely unlucky in japan thought to mean sudden death as the word death is pronounced similar to the word death things you learn from watching old martial arts films eh? Controller looks greatAnd as for the console I love it seems to go with anything in fact you don't even notice is there :D

Looking forward to the launch of the new xbox now thinking they might just up there specs a little if they need to now Sony have made there info available should give Microsoft a slight edge surely
